Over the years Colin R. Owen has acquired a large collection, over 32 meters of wall to wall showcases, of fine mineral specimens. In addition, there are approximately 1200 flats of minerals on shelves for collectors and dealers to peruse in Somerset West, South Africa. Come for a day, stay for a week!!!! Anyone wishing to visit is always very welcome.
For over 30 years, Colin has operated a numismatic Company, the "Chimperie Agencies", being American Numismatic Association life member no. 1651 and the International Banknote Society life member no. 21. He is also a life member of all South African Numismatic and Militaria Societies and joined the International banknote Society in 1978. 

During his years as a collector in the military field he has written 8 books on the subject, "The Military Badges and Insignia of Southern Africa" being the latest in the series. It is a hard cover book with b/w and colour photos, weighing 2 kg and having over 6300 pictures. Colin is still selling his numismatic stock and has a website where you are welcome visit. Five years ago Colin closed down the numismatic side of the business and started full-time into Mineralogy, specializing in the Kalahari Manganese field, Orange River and all the many mines in Namibia. Having dealt in collectable coins and medals for so long, he found it very easy going into the mineral specimen field.
