Poldervaartite is a type-locality mineral, only found in the Kalahari Manganese fields. In the N'Chwaning and Wessels Mines. Poldervaartite is named after Arie Poldervaart of the Columbia University. It is an extremely rare mineral, found a few times in the Wessels mine, and again in N'Chwaning mine in 2002.

This was a very large pocket, and the first lot to come out was all cream color, with very few pink to reddish specimens. During the next year and a half many more small and large pockets were found, and many thousands of specimens. But with all the specimens found, very few top specimens came out, and it is still RARE to find a good red specimen.

Around the middle of 2004, the last pocket was found, and this pocket only had small cream crystals and Bultfonteinite. We also got some nice reddish poldervaartite with calcite around them, these are rare, as very few specimens came out. There are different mineral combinations with Poldervaartite, some very rare.
